Roads requiring a vignette in Switzerland
In Switzerland, a vignette is required on all category 1 and 2 freeways and national roads that are marked with green and white signs. These are also referred to as Swiss highways and Swiss motorways.

In Switzerland, highways and motorways differ in a number of key respects:
- Highways: They are intersection-free, directionally separated and have at least two lanes in each direction. They are designed for high-speed traffic and enable fast, uninterrupted travel.
- Motorways: As a rule, these are also intersection-free, but they are less frequently directionally separated and often only have one lane. They also serve as interregional connections, but often have a lower capacity and are not always designed for the highest speeds, as is the case on freeways.

Excluded highways in Switzerland without vignette requirement
In Switzerland, there are certain cantonal highway sections on which no tolls are charged. These stretches are toll-free for motorcycles, cars, vehicles with trailers and light caravans.
A50 - Glattfelden bypass
The A50 highway, known as the “Glattfelden bypass”, is a toll-free route in the canton of Zurich, close to the German border.
A51 - Airport highway
The A51, also known as the airport highway, stretches from Bülach North to Kloten North and is around 10 kilometers long.
A52 - Cantonal highway
The A52 is also one of the cantonal, toll-free sections of highway. It runs from Zumikon to the Betzholz traffic circle, where it meets the A15 toll road.

All Swiss roads are subject to a toll sticker. Exceptions are the cantonal Swiss motorways.
